Slime Rancher is a farming simulator that takes the whole concept of such games outside the boundaries of Earth and invites you to try your hand at raising slimes on a distant planet. You’ll have to gather and domesticate them, create all conditions for them to be healthy and happy on your rancho and motivate them to produce as many plorts as possible by giving them the right food. So, shall we begin?

Welcome to your own slime rancho!

At the start of the game, you’ll find yourself in a strange area that doesn’t look anything like those fields and meadows you would expect to see in any other farming simulator. The neighborhood is filled with various resources, including fruits and vegetables, chickens and of course slimes. Your very first task is to gather a batch of slimes that will become the first dwellers on your farm. So far, you will only have access to pink ones. They are not very picky and you won’t have a lot of trouble with them. Don’t forget to pick up some fruits and vegetables to feed to them – once its stomach is full, a slime will produce a plort (looking like a crystal of a respective color) that can be sold for profit.

Pink slimes are not the best choice to base your enterprise on. Their plorts are rather cheap, and you really need a lot of them if you count on any kind of a decent budget. But if you fill your rancho with pink slimes, you might face another problem – they will start running away because they don’t like to live in a crowd. So you’d better go out and look a little bit farther to discover more serious candidates – blue and violet slimes. Those are already more profitable in terms of crystal production, but also more capricious in terms of food. Maybe it’s time to get a fruit garden or a chicken coop?

Grow and cross-breed slimes, but beware of turning them into man eaters!

There is one important feature about slimes in Slime Rancher – you can cross-breed them to get other types of slimes that can send your farming business to unprecedented heights. All because hybrids produce not just one crystal, but two at a time (one of each kind). And if you care to treat such slimes to their favorite food, you will get four! Creating a hybrid is nothing difficult – you just have to feed a plort of one kind to a slime of another kind. Just don’t do it twice otherwise you will create a monster instead – a horrible man-eating slime the likes of which roam the neighborhood and should be steered clear of. Plunge into the fascinating world of farming on another planet playing Slime Rancher online!
